March 23, 2020 Message to Families From the Principal

We wanted to provide an update on the Ocean View Junior High plan for this week as we all continue to do our best to shelter in place to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus.&nbsp;</p><p dir="ltr">This week all the Junior High teachers will be reaching out to individual students via phone calls, email, Google Classroom, or any other means in order to connect with students directly. Our goal is to check on the well-being of each student, remind them that we are here to support them, let them know what’s ahead for their learning, and to determine how we might help, especially in the area of digital access, as we work to meet their academic needs through distance learning. We know that teachers making calls to individual students is not our ordinary practice but of course, these are not ordinary times. Any help you can provide in supporting this one to one communication will be greatly appreciated. And finally, if your child has an IEP, a special education teacher will be reaching out separately to parents this week. We will send out a new update next Monday as well until then stay safe and take good care. </p><p dir="ltr"><br></p><p dir="ltr"></p><div class="edit"><p dir="ltr">&nbsp;<i><b>Buenas noches familias de Ocean View Junior High:</b></i></p><p dir="ltr"><i><b>&nbsp;</b></i><i><b>Esperamos que este mensaje lo encuentre saludable y seguro. Queríamos proporcionar una actualización sobre el plan Ocean View Junior High para esta semana, ya que todos seguimos haciendo nuestro mejor esfuerzo para refugiarnos en casa para ayudar a detener la propagación del Coronavirus.</b></i></p><p dir="ltr"><i><b>&nbsp;</b></i><i><b>Esta semana, todos los maestros de secundaria se comunicarán con estudiantes individualmente a través de llamadas telefónicas, correo electrónico, Google Classroom o cualquier otro medio para conectarse directamente con los estudiantes. Nuestro objetivo es verificar el bienestar de cada estudiante, recordarles que estamos aquí para apoyarlos, informarles lo que les espera para su aprendizaje y determinar cómo podemos ayudarlos, especialmente en el área de acceso digital, para satisfacer sus necesidades académicas a través del aprendizaje a distancia. Sabemos que los maestros que hacen llamadas a estudiantes individuales no es nuestra práctica habitual, pero, por supuesto, estos no son tiempos normales.
